#5-Florida Keys
To experience saltwater fly fishing at it’s finest, there’s no call for a passport or complex, expensive, international travel itineraries. The Florida Keys are our own watery paradise, and its no wonder that this 120-mile island chain attracted our most-renowned artists, writers, and musicians…they were all hopelessly addicted anglers.
Florida represents ground-zero for tarpon fly fishing. It was here that legendary anglers first perfected the tackle, techniques, and patterns for pursuing the Silver King.
There is nothing in fly fishing as exhilarating as hooking a giant tarpon; their size, strength, and leaping ability makes them extremely difficult to bring to the boat. As such, days are measured in fish jumped, not landed, but sometimes it all comes together!
You could fill a great American novel with the number of species available here.
It’s simply a matter of what you’re in the mood for, and how far you want to go!
